This 5-year, earn-while-you-learn program will provide 10,000 hours of paid on the job training during the day and 900 hours of class room study at night. During their apprenticeship, not only will students receive one of the most comprehensive electrical educations in the world, but also an excellent wage rate, free Blue Cross & Blue shield insurance and guaranteed pension benefits.
The Birmingham Electrical JATC is a federally recognized Apprenticeship Training program that is a viable alternative to “traditional” post-secondary education routes. Graduates of our program will receive 2 diplomas (one from the National JATC and the other from the United States Department of Labor), they will be certified by the State of Alabama as a “licensed” Journeyman Electrician and will have earned 45 ACE credits toward a bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Co-sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association, the Birmingham Electrical JATC provides an educational path to a career with a highly employable skill that is always in demand.
